Yup you read that title right!! We're leaving for Argentina (well at least Atlanta, then to Buenos Aires then who knows how we're getting to Comodoro) :) YEAH! We got them last Friday! There was a lot of singing and maybe even some dancing that occurred, it's so crazy, we've only got 4 more days! 4 MORE DAYS! I seriously can't wait, we started packing up all of our stuff today, and it's so surreal! I feel like we've lived here for years, and that we've known each other for our whole lives :)
We've had a lot of cool things happen this week! First of all. I found Elder Leavitt! We chatted for a little and he was like, "OH i forgot you were still here!" and I was like, "yup I'm STILL here" hahaha. Second of all we hit our month mark for the MTC, that's ONE MONTH of my mission gone! What's happening??!! Thirdly, we got to see the Christmas Devotional on Sunday and it was soo good! I feel like you guys were going to see that too, maybe or something...I can't remember hahaha if you saw it I hope you liked it, if not find it because it's awesome!! Fourthly We got to watch "For Such a Time As This" by Jeffery R Holland, and it was the most amazing thing! He told us that this is the dispensation that wins! All of the prophets of the Bible and the Book of Mormon knew that their dispensations would end in apostasy, but they kept on because they literally saw our dispensation and knew that it would be worth it! We have more opportunity to share the gospel in one day, than our great great grandparents had in their whole lives! We OWE IT TO them! To the prophets who did what they did even though all seemed hopeless, it's up to us to share this good news with everyone we meet!
We also had a fantastic fireside last night! W Craig Zwick of the seventy and his wife Jan Zwick came and spoke to us! She talked about how drawing nearer to Christ allows him to draw nearer to us, and she played us the most adorable video message from her 4 yr old grand daughter who said "I left the missionaries a selfie" for you to show them. She said that she wanted to grow up to be a missionary, and when you "get grumpy and sad, just pray to Jesus". So cute and also SO TRUE! After she spoke, Lexi Walker sang to us. Have you heard her before? She's 12 and she's sang at Carnegie Hall and with David Archuleta (he and motab have replaced all of my other music LOL) and she has the voice of an angel! She sang I Am a Child of God, Oh Holy Night and I Know that My Redeemer Lives and it was the most beautiful moving thing ever. Elder Zwick talked about obedience and how we are always protected when we listen to the prophets, follow promptings and obey with exactness, and I can testify that Exact Obedience brings Milagros (or miracles)!
Thanks SO SUPER MUCH for that awesome Christmas package :) It was way fun to get all of those gifts, don't worry I didn't open the Christmas Eve PJs I'll save those for Argentina ;) but thanks SO much. The Hermanas LOVED their little stockings and HLJ rings, (Hmna Burt said she was gonna cry and Hmna Beard did cry lol) and the I'm pretty sure the Elder's have eaten all of the hershey's hugs, and we totally devoured that tin of cookies in a matter of hours, but hey "let your soul delight in fatness" Isaiah 55:2 look it up!
Funny moments of the week: Hmno Arce told us the funniest story from his mission ever and I cried I laughed so hard, so I hope you'll think it's funny: It was Pday and he and his comp were riding back to their house, it was 9:30 and they didn't wanna get in trouble so they were cruising. This dog ran out in front of his comp, but then it saw he was coming and turned the other way in front of Hmno Arce. Well Hmno Arce didn't worry because he thought "oh it's a smart dog and it'll turn around". Well...it didn't and he HIT THE DOG with his bike and flew head over heels through the street and all of his clean white shirts exploded everywhere and were all over the street, and there was a guy drinking alcohol on the side of the road and he saw him and chuckled to himself and went back to drinking. I hope you thought that was as hilarious as I did...maybe everything is just funnier in Spanish?? or the MTC?? who knows ;) I can't wait to have crazy dog/bike stories to share with you all :)
other funny moment: I played soccer...yeah you read that right, and it was every bit as awkward and uncoordinated as you're thinking, but it was also hilarious because Hmna Allen(one of the Hmnas from the other district in our zone) slipped and fell while we were fighting for the ball, and then she just started grabbing my legs while I was trying to take the ball and she yelled "If I'm going down I'm taking you with me!" LOL we were definitely the loudest on the soccer field.
Can't wait to tell you about Argentina and all of the wonderful things that happen on our flight! I challenge you all to be exactly obedient and to follow the words of the prophets, old and new! We owe it to them! And when the going gets tough, "just pray to Jesus" :)
Le Amo Mucho!!
